Here, I am using Sony's pitch-shifting software to drastically lower certain parts of the recording resulting (hopefully) in a bass-drum or kick-drum feel. The idea was that in lowering these thin samples, the beat could be marked in a more pronounced manor. The advantage here is that the "bass-drum" (if you could call it that...) is precisely in the same key as the rest of the melody.
